Everyone on Earth knows that the world is the besta condition in which a person can be. Nobody wants war, devastation, hunger and fear. But, unfortunately, no matter how we try to keep quiet relations in conflicts, war and military actions somehow or other arise with increasing regularity. Scientists have calculated that since 1945 there were only 25 peace days on Earth. Strengthening peace on Earth is a priority task for all countries and joint organizations.
About ideas of the eternal thought in ancient Greece. But even then Plato expressed the opinion that war is a natural state of peoples, and this can not be changed.
With the ideas of eternal peace, even those who fought ruthless wars. Napoleon I wanted to strengthen equality throughout Europe, but to subordinate other countries could only be by force.
Strengthening peace on Earth is not an easy task. Prince Alexei Malinovsky was sure that enmity is kindled by envoys, and their activities must be stopped.
The special importance of preventing massconflicts began to give after the First World War. Then the League of Nations was created, the purpose of which was to disarm the main aggressors. But, as we know from history, it did not lead to anything good, and in 1939 the Second World War flared up. But after it, the idea of creating a technology for conflict management and peace consolidation has become truly relevant and necessary.
The United Nations was established in1945 in order to maintain friendly relations between states and prevent major conflicts. To date, it includes 191 countries, almost all existing states on Earth. Can we say that the UN has a huge influence on the policy of the powers? Not exactly, but for its 70-year existence the organization still managed to prevent several serious battles.
Its role in the history of the UN clearly playedthe period of the Berlin crisis (1948-1949), the Cuban missile crisis (1962) and the Middle East crisis (1963). Now the influence of the organization has somewhat diminished, and many terrorist-minded rulers do not want to listen to the world community. We can say that the UN has become obsolete in terms of fulfilling its functions, and now it is necessary to look for new technologies for strengthening peace.
A huge number of people are ready to offerdisinterestedly help in difficult situations. They are called volunteers. But there is a special kind of volunteers who interfere in the internecine affairs of states. They are called peacekeepers.
Peace consolidation is impossible in some caseswithout peacekeeping. Since the late 1990s, there have been several examples of successful intervention in conflicts and the prevention of hostilities. First of all, this is an operation in Kosovo (1999), in East Timor (2002-2005).
To date, peacekeeping operations are conducted in two directions:
1. Based on UN decisions.
2. On the basis of decisions of religious organizations (NATO, the African Union) or union states (CIS, Eurasian Union).
Most conflicts in the modern world arecivil internecine wars. Strengthening the peace in this case is complicated by the fact that the parties do not want to listen to the opinion and advice of third parties. In these matters, peacekeepers are powerless.
Another direction, known in all countries,- this is pacifism. The ideology, whose supporters completely exclude the possibility of violence for the sake of the disappearance of evil. That is, we will not offend anyone, and then there will be peace in the whole world.
Pacifists firmly believe that any conflictcan be solved peacefully. Their hearts are filled with kindness and light, and on any slap they substitute the other side of the face, arguing that surrender engenders aggression.
Since 1901, a well-known award has been awardedoutstanding figures for the consolidation of peace. This work is extremely difficult, because it is very difficult to keep calm even inside your own country. The most interesting thing is that the nominees were B. Mussolini and A. Hitler. They wanted to give the main prize to Lenin for the idea of creating a Soviet society, but the Civil War prevented the delivery. But the honored figure of Mahatma Gandhi did not get a prize, although he was nominated 12 times. Many believe that this is the only person who really deserves respect.
Contradictions in the Nobel Peace Prize are huge, because consolidating the world is a very difficult task that will hardly ever be solved.
